Nantucket Fishing report Charters
Dear Fishermen and Friends,
Boy, is it Fall outside… raining, windy and potential hurricane coming. But, we have great news!!!
Scalloping season opened today. Those crazy enough to go out, had good reports- we’ll know for sure when the weather cooperates. In the meantime, we have a ton of push rakes, baskets, gloves, waders and knives in stock! We are your one stop shop for all of the essentials. And of course, as we start to get info on where the Scallops are, we will let you know. Just stop by the shop and ask Dave or Jer.
Albie fishing also continues to be exceptional from the beach. Yesterday there were guys who were catching them on every cast for an hour or so and even a report of 10+ fish by an angler. These fish often eat into the wind, so hunker down and pitch that metal as far as you can from the beach. The east side has been more productive recently than anywhere else. There are also plenty of fish being caught in the Galls.
Bass fishing has been productive as of recent with several 20lb fish being weighed in. These fish have been on the south side, but DO NOT fish down there in this weather. The rips are very dangerous, so don’t fish any open ocean water for a few days. The harbor and north shore have had some fish as well. We are also finally catching some big bluefish- fish from the beach that are 10+ lbs.
Most importantly, Capt Corey caught a keeper this weekend!! He did not even fish, but instead he got married in Maine this weekend and all of the BFT guys were there to celebrate. Congrats Corey and Jen!
Lastly, some of you may have heard rumors of Tuna in the harbor last weekend. These rumors were true and in fact one of the guys from Brant Point Marine even hooked into one. That is crazy. But it is fall and this is when all of the fun stuff happens.
Friendtember, as we affectionally call September, is over and we are into October and the heart of fall, when serious fisherman are most active on the Island. Enjoy this last month of fishing, because it’s going to be productive!!
Go enjoy!
